My interest in photography started at an early age. Armed with a simple Kodak Instamatic camera, I sought to photograph the world around me. I constantly pushed the limits of that basic camera, striving to capture images for which a far more advanced 35mm camera was designed. I later graduated to a Pentax 35mm camera, and now utilize a professional Nikon DSLR.
My passion grew as I studied at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I received my degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Lighting Design.
My eye is attracted to details others might dismiss: the texture of a rose petal, the contrast of highlight and shadow, the detailed work of an older building or the visual compositions found all around us.
The images found in my portfolio represent over thirty-five years of ongoing work. I am always seeking out new photographs waiting to be captured, and plan to continue to add to my collection.
I owe much to my wife, Nilda, my inspiration. It was she who, after several years, finally convinced me to offer my work to the public, and has stood by me from the beginning. In the past years since my initial public offering, my work has appeared in several juried exhibitions, with my first Solo Exhibition held in May, 2005. I have been fortunate enough to have received several awards for my work, along with having some of my work published. My successes are hers, the failures are mine.
